Valley Regional Medical Center has been recognized by the March of Dimes for reducing the number of elective inductions and caesarean deliveries performed before 39 weeks of pregnancy. According to studies presented at the annual meeting of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Valley Regional Medical Center and other hospitals that institute policies to eliminate non-medically indicated deliveries prior to 39 weeks' gestation may have a positive impact on fetal outcomes.

Valley Regional Medical Center and Dr. Orlando Ramirez helped Abril Elizondo and Ariel Munoz, Jr. welcome their daughter, Amiee to the world at 2:38am on January 1, 2014. Amiee weighs 6 lbs and 14.8 ozs and is 20” long. This is their first baby. Amiee is also the first granddaughter born to both families.
Valley Regional Medical Center Partners with Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin Opening Brownsville’s First Donor Human Milk Depot

Valley Regional Medical Center today announced it has opened Brownsville’s first donor human milk depot, a place where lactating women can donate their extra breastmilk to help feed premature and critically ill babies. The donated breastmilk will be sent to The Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin where it is pasteurized and made safe for babies, then dispensed by prescription to hospitals and outpatients throughout the Rio Grande Valley, Texas and beyond.

Valley Regional Medical Center received this recognition for the second year in a row for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.

A volunteer member of the Valley Regional Medical Center Auxiliary makes heart-shaped pillows for our patients undergoing cardiac bypass surgery. Mrs. Dominga Tamayo, a volunteer for the past 5 years, has been cutting, sewing, and stuffing heart shaped pillows for over 2 years.

The Winter Haven Resident Quilting Club, hand-crafts quilts and donates them to babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The Winter Haven Resident Quilting Club is a group of women that come together a few times a year. These women represent a number of states including: Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, Michigan, as well as Canada.
