Brownsville, Texas – Valley Regional Medical Center welcomed its first baby of the New Year, Franchesco Manuel Lopez, into the world at 4:49am on January 1, 2024. Franchesco, the son of Diego Lopez and Flor Infante, was expected to be born on January 11, 2024, but he had different plans. “We are so excited to meet him as our special New Year’s gift finally,” said new mom Flor Infante.

Obstetrician Orlando Ramirez, M.D., delivered the healthy baby boy. Franchesco was 19.5 inches and weighed 7 pounds, 1.76 ounces.

“We are honored when families in Cameron County choose us – year after year- to help welcome their children into the world and be a part of memories that will last a lifetime,” said David Irizarry, chief executive officer at Valley Regional Medical Center. “To all the families we have served, and to all the families who will choose us this year to provide healthcare for their families, we wish you a happy and healthy new year.”
