Brownsville women's health services

Our team of caregivers works together to help women in our community live fuller and healthier lives. Our specialists include board-certified gynecologists, obstetricians, neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, breast radiologists, surgeons and lactation consultants.

Valley Regional Medical Center is proud to be recognized for its excellence across various women's care specialties. We are recipients of the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award, Labor and Delivery Excellence Award, and Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award from Healthgrades.

Breast health

Early detection of breast cancer offers the most options for treatment. As the only hospital in the Rio Grande Valley to be recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, we offer the full spectrum of breast screening and diagnostic services, including mammograms, breast MRI, breast ultrasound and biopsy.

Gynecology

From routine to complex, we provide a full range of gynecology care to meet women's needs over their lifetime. This includes minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, endocrine regulation of abnormal bleeding or menstruation issues, birth control counseling and menopause management.

Labor and delivery

We deliver more than 2,500 babies each year and are committed to providing you and your baby with a healthy and memorable experience. We offer a full range of maternity and childbirth services, from specialized care for high-risk pregnancies to childbirth classes. If your baby needs specialty care, caregivers at our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are ready 24/7 for your baby's special needs.

NICU

We provide specialized neonatal care for premature or critically ill infants at our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This advanced nursey is equipped with the equipment and staff to care for infants 24 hours a day. Our care team includes neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. If your baby needs to be transferred to a higher-level NICU, we provide neonatal transport to get them safely there.
