Locks of Love Donor Making a Difference

Locks of Love Donor Making A DifferenceBesides the normal trim, Dominique Arguello hadn't cut her hair since 2006, until Friday, October 11th. “I’d gotten lazy about fixing my hair. It was pretty easy to just pull it back or put it in a bun”, say Dominique.

“I wanted to feel pretty again”, says Dominique, an employee at Valley Regional Medical Center.  “I’ve lost 95 pounds since last December. My body looks different and I needed a new hair style to complete my new look.  I thought giving someone else the chance for a new look would be a rewarding thing to do.”

She'd heard about Locks of Love and knew there had to be a salon in Brownsville. She made a couple of calls and found out that the Carriage House Day Spa had been participating in this program for several years. The salon offers a free hair cut and style to donors.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that makes hairpieces for financially disadvantage children under the age of 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

"With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, donating today was extra special”, says Dominique. “I know I'm making someone else's life a little brighter and that's a wonderful feeling".

Dominique is excited about her new look and hopes that others will be encouraged to donate.
